The visit to Purchena begins in the area of the Town Hall to see houses from the 18th and 19th centuries and the Casa del Fiscal. In the Plaza de la Luna you will find a sculpture dedicated to Luna, a beautiful Moorish woman. Take Calle Granada to reach the fountain of San Ginés (1887). Ascend through the network of Moorish streets where the Church of San Ginés rises majestically, the work of Juan de Orea, built in the 16th century on the site of the Aljama mosque. It is Renaissance in style but with a strong influence of Granada’s Mudéjar style (roof). And now begin the ascent to the Water Tower and the ruins of the Alcazaba, where you will find the Virgen del Carmen Chapel and magnificent views of Purchena and the Almanzora valley.
