ROUTE

This route runs along the plain and the river Almanzora. We start the route in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, where we can find the Public Library, the Town Hall, Guadalinfo, the old Juma Cinema (now closed) and the Casa del Fiscal. Following the signs, we will take the Calle del Baño to reach the Almanzora River, where we will cross it to start ascending between prickly pears, orange trees, olive trees and fig trees. After passing the Pardo Chico reservoir, we reach the railway track. At this point we will contemplate the Watchtower, a watchtower of Nasrid origin and a general panoramic view of the town of Purchena.

We continue parallel to the railway track until we reach the crossroads of Somontín; we turn left to reach the stream of the same name and follow its course. Turn right towards the river Almanzora, until you reach “El Chorreor”, a rest area, recently renovated and refurbished, with the aim of making it easier for walkers to rest, as this is where we find the source of SAN GINÉS.

Following the course of the river until we reach the Cultural Centre “El Lavadero” and “La Fuente De San Ginés”, we leave the river and walk along Granada Street until we reach the Town Hall Square, where the route ends.
