The tunnel that connects the municipality of Purchena with that of Olula del Río is finished, to end this section that links Hijate with Olula del Río.

The president of the Commonwealth of Municipalities of Valle del Almanzora, Antonio Ramón Salas; the mayor of Olula del Rio, Antonio Martínez Pascual and the purchenera councilor Isabel María Sánchez Cruz, visited the works that will link Hijate, Serón, Tíjola, Armuña, Purchena, Olula and Fines, in a walk suitable for the whole family and that allows enjoy nature.

For Salas, this natural path will become the busiest in all of Andalusia. «In a next phase, we hope to reach Almendricos (Murcia). In this sense we are already in talks with the Government of the Nation, who has opted for this much-needed work to boost local tourism, with an investment of around 2.5 million euros, which has allowed to create jobs » adds the president.

Enabled the tunnel that connects the Greenway, responsible for the Association of Municipalities of Almanzora, wanted to recognize this effort that allows the opening of this step that is part of the Natural Path Program of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment.

You can already contemplate the use of the infrastructure by different neighbors of the region that have in this natural path, an unbeatable ride that allows them to practice sports, a healthy walk or the bike ride where the train tracks joined Guadix with Almendricos.

Remember that the complete work of this project has an investment of 1,833,016 euros and is based on the refurbishment project drafted by the Mancomunidad del Almanzora. After completing this journey, in a second phase, the Vía Verde del Almanzora must pass through the municipalities of Cantoria and Arboleas to end in the town of Zurgena.

As for the footbridge linking Fines and Olula del Río, this (forty meters long and four meters wide), crosses the A-349 road that joins the two municipalities with a game of 290,000 euros. The project also has landscaped areas, a bike path and a pedestrian area.
