Sierro is reminiscent of a typical Alpujarran village. It is a fabulous experience to stroll through its narrow, steep streets, visit its church, squares and small squares, climb up to reach the Castle (12th century) and enjoy beautiful views of the Almanzora Valley.
Afterwards you can walk down to the river, contemplate the ravine formed by the river over the bridge next to the Town Hall square, buy typical products in the bakery or eat in a magnificent restaurant.
Sierro has several footpaths that run through the municipality and pass through picturesque spots in the Sierra de los Filabres.
During the mushroom season, the Mycological days that have been held in the town for several decades are very attractive.
The most important and unique tradition of the municipality is the battle between Moors and Christians which takes place on the first weekend of September. On Saturday the Moors win and take the castle and on Sunday it is the Christians who win and recover the fortress.
If you visit this town and want to know what to see and do in it, we have selected on this page a series of suggestions to make your stay easier and more interesting.
We hope you enjoy it.

Sierra is a town in the province of Almería, located in the Valle del Almanzora region. Its origin dates back to Muslim times, when the Castillo de Sierro was built, which is still preserved on top of a hill.
