This small town at the foot of the Sierra de Lúcar hides several treasures such as the Cela Hot Springs, the Talc Mines, etc. but in this publication we are going to focus on something that may surprise the traveler: its viewpoints.

We propose a walk through Lúcar to discover its winding streets, its beautiful corners and its unique viewpoints.

Lúcar Viewpoint

First of all, park the car at the entrance of the village, in Marín de Poveda street, then walk up San Marcos street, go up the slope and let yourself go until you reach Nte. Torre that gives access to the Mirador de Lúcar in the highest part of the village. It is about a 10 minute walk.

Admire the scenery from there. The viewpoint is located at an altitude of 933m.

Viewpoint of La Santa

Then go down in the direction of the church, following the bell tower. You have to reach the church door and from there continue to the Town Hall square. Then continue along Calle Marín de Poveda which takes you to the Mirador de la Santa. This viewpoint is on a small hill and has a marble column as a sculpture with an ancient inscription.

You have to return to the Town Hall square, you can do it by the same street you came from or by La Loma street so as not to repeat the route too much.

Viewpoint of the Pastor

When you reach the square you go to SAS de la Casa street. After 100 metres and after climbing a slight slope you come to a new viewpoint which we don’t know what it is called but which has the silhouette of a shepherd and some iron goats. Another beautiful view of the Almanzora valley and the Sierra de los Filabres can be seen from here. Next you go up the street towards the health centre and there is another new viewpoint just above the previous one.

Typical corners

Then we suggest that you go back to the street looking for the church as a reference to go out to Marín de Poveda street and from there, following the street you go back to the car. Along these narrow streets you will find picturesque corners typical of these villages.

The total distance is less than 3km (approximately 1 hour, depending on the stops) and can be done with children. It’s a perfect way to spend a morning with the family and then finish it off with a great meal.

We hope you enjoy Lucar’s viewpoints!
