Guided tour of the Sanctuary of the Virgen de los Desamparados del Saliente (18th century), a monastery that houses the Virgen del Saliente (carving from 1670 approx.), the only virgin in Europe with a dragon at her feet and one of the few images that represent the virgin during her pregnancy. The monastery is one of the most important pilgrimage centers in the southeast of Spain with more than 300 years of history.
Later we moved to Oria to enjoy one of the most emblematic buildings, its magnificent Basilica of the Virgen de la Mercedes, in Baroque style (1779).
We will complete the guided tour of the town visiting its streets, the Old Hermitage, the Hermitage of San Gregorio -patron saint of the municipality- and the Castle-Viewpoint de Oria, which was really a Muslim fortress from the 13th century where hardly any remains of a crenellated wall are preserved. but it is full of stories and with impressive views of the town, the Basilica and the plain.
