Olula del Río is a small town located in the province of Almería. Despite its size, this town is rich in culture and art. Perez Siquier Centre
The Pérez Siquier Photography Centre, which pays tribute to the famous Almeria-born photographer Carlos Pérez Siquier, winner of the national photography prize. It has a large collection of photographic works from the 20th and 21st centuries, showing the evolution of photographic art over time. It is a unique experience for art and photography lovers. Ibañez Museum
The Ibáñez Museum is another place not to be missed if you visit Olula del Río. The museum’s collection is made up of works by some of the most important Spanish artists of the 20th century. Highlights include works by Goya, Los Madrazo, Sorolla and other great names in Spanish painting. In addition, the museum has a selection of works by local artists such as Andres García Ibáñez, the museum’s promoter, which offer an insight into life and culture in the Almería region.
Sculpture “Woman of the Almanzora”
On the other hand, the sculpture “Woman of the Almanzora” is a large sculpture made of Macael Marble designed by the artist Antonio Lopez, Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts, to preside over the City of Culture in Olula del Rio. The sculpture has been very well received by the local community and has helped to revitalise the area. The work has become a symbol of the region’s identity and has inspired many local artists to create works of art that reflect the history and culture of the Almanzora.
In addition to these highlights, Olula del Río also has numerous small shops and restaurants offering local and traditional products.
