The Almería Municipal Sports Board has announced a new activity aimed at hiking enthusiasts. Entitled “La Cerrá de Tíjola Trail”, this event will take place on 31 May, offering a unique experience in a stunning natural setting.
The activity is aimed at experienced hikers, as it presents a moderate level of technical difficulty. With this initiative, the Board seeks to continue promoting sport in natural areas renowned for their scenic beauty and environmental value.
Activity Details
Those interested may take part in this route, which has a limited capacity of 50 places, to be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration period begins on 18 May, and the departure is scheduled for 9.00 am from the Maestro Padilla Auditorium.
The route is circular and will allow participants to explore one of the most impressive places in the province: the Cerrá de Tíjola, a narrow canyon situated near the town, in the heart of the Almanzora Valley. This spot is known for its imposing vertical rock faces that enclose the Bacares riverbed, creating a truly unique landscape.
Points of Interest and Environmental Commitment
Along the route, walkers will have the opportunity to observe abundant vegetation that is rare in these areas. Furthermore, the itinerary includes various points of historical interest, such as ancient ruined water mills that bear witness to the region’s hydraulic heritage.
During the walk, participants will walk alongside the river and climb up to the ruins of Tíjola la Vieja, an important archaeological site that adds historical value to this experience. Through this activity, the Board reaffirms its commitment to promoting outdoor sport and encourages healthy habits through physical activity in natural environments.
